Flying Dragon Orange Trees - Cold Hardy Citrus
Latin Name: Poncirus trifoliata var. monstrosa
Hardy to zone 6
-These are two-year-old bare root seedling trees, 8-12 inch tall.
-An unusually cold hardy citrus
-Ornamental with beautifully curved thorns.
-Commonly used as a rootstock for grafting citrus. If the climate ever does warm enough to be able to grow citrus at our farm, I will have the rootstocks established and ready for grafting.
-It cannot be eaten fresh. The fruit is very seedy. Although they can be squeezed for juice.
-The peels are used in Chinese Herbalism where it is known as Zhi Shi. According to TCM it regulates the flow of Qi in the Middle Burner and reduces Food Stagnation.
-It can be planted as a hedge to create a living barbed fence.
-No pest and disease issues.
