This is seed from the cultivar 'Nyírség', a forestry selection from Hungary bred for a straight growth form for use as sawlogs.

-Easy to germinate

Seed Treatment: Pour almost boiling water over seeds and let sit for 24 hours.

I recommend planting the seeds in pots or a raised bed, growing out the trees for one year and then transplanting to their permanent home.

Zone:4-9

Black Locust is an amazing tree. It is a nitrogen fixer, with incredibly rot-resistant wood. The flowers are edible. Great for firewood, fence post, or pole wood production. It also can be used as a living fence. Great for a coppiced wood lot. Black locust does not get large thorns like its relative the honey locust.

-Fast-growing

-Nitrogen fixer

-Rot Resistant

-Great for coppicing

-Small half inch length thorns
